Discover the Thousand Islands by Kayak On a Guided Tour
Paddle into Nature
Your adventure begins with a launch into the calm waters of the Indian River Lagoon, where your guide sets an easy pace and helps everyone get comfortable in their kayaks.
From here, you’ll follow a winding route into the heart of the Thousand Islands, entering narrow mangrove passages that feel like secret corridors carved by nature.
Wildlife Encounters
As the tunnels open into quiet lagoons, your guide will watch for movement along the shorelines and in the water. You’ll watch out for manatees surfacing for air, dolphins feeding in the channels, and birds hunting from the overhanging branches.
Our guides are specially trained in spotting this wildlife and helping you notice subtle clues that most paddlers would miss, bringing you closer to the inhabitants that make this place so special.
Your guide will also share information about the history of the area, explaining how the mangrove ecosystems protect the coastline, support marine life, and have shaped the region for generations — from its early inhabitants to its role as a protected conservation area today.
Hidden Lagoons
Midway through the tour, you’ll drift through some of the area’s most secluded spots, where mullet flash beneath the surface and ospreys circle overhead. The pace will remain steady and unhurried, giving you time to enjoy the sounds of the mangroves, snap photos, and take in the panoramic views of this protected ecosystem.
Back Across the Lagoon
The final stretch brings you through open water and back toward the launch point, offering a different perspective of the islands and a chance to appreciate how interconnected the habitats truly are.
By the end, you’ll have experienced the Thousand Islands Conservation Area the way locals know it, and leave with a deeper understanding of Florida’s best-kept secret.

We constantly monitor the weather right up until tour time. This includes forecast and real-time precipitation, lightning and winds. As tour launch time approaches we pay special attention to the current radar outlook.
If heavy precipitation, lightning and/or wind might lead to unsafe conditions we may go into a 30 minute weather hold and/or cancel the tour. Your guide will be in touch about 45 minutes prior to the scheduled launch time to provide updates. If we cancel we will work with guests to reschedule to another day and/or time but if not possible we will issue a full refund.

We keep groups small (typically maximum 12–16 guests – often less) to ensure a personal, relaxed, and wildlife-friendly experience. We do not have a minimum number of guests. Smaller groups also allow guides and guests to navigate the route more easily, and to get to know each other.
